Bulow Creek is one of the few places that I would suggest paddling tandem to anyone. You need one person to paddle and a photographer. There are so many birds here it boggles the mind, my problem was that by the time I had the camera out and ready either the bird had gone or was no longer doing anything interesting.
I had one very interesting experience when I tapped something in the water with my paddle. And it boogied! Could not see enough to tell and it never surfaced but I suspect it was a small alligator. I think they burrow into the mud when it's cold and it was cold today, barely over 50F.
